Incoming PA Program students receive white coats

Penn State College of Medicine welcomed 30 new students into the Physician Assistant Program on May 19 at the annual White Coat Ceremony. Friends and family came to the Penn State Hershey campus to witness the students receiving their white coats and reciting the Physician Assistant Oath as first steps in their two-year journey to becoming physician assistants.

Keynote speaker for the ceremony was Dr. Rachel Levine, acting physician general for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the College of Medicine.

The entering class was selected from a pool of 2,175 applicants, which reflects a 13 percent increase in applications from 2014 – the program's inaugural year. Today (Thursday, May 21) is the first day of classes for the incoming students.
