Penn State Health bringing nationally ranked pediatric care to Lancaster County
Penn State Health is expanding the nationally ranked pediatric specialty care of Penn State Health Children’s Hospital to Lancaster County with the construction of a 47,000-square-foot pediatric outpatient center. The new facility – Penn State Health Lancaster Pediatric Center – will be located at the intersection of Harrisburg Pike and Rt. 30 in Manheim Township, the site of a former Toys “R” Us retail store.
Penn State Health Lancaster Pediatric Center will offer Lancaster County residents convenient and comprehensive, high-level pediatric care in an environment completely designed for and dedicated to children, teens and their families. The new outpatient center will enhance access to pediatric specialty care for patients and families in Lancaster County and the surrounding area without having to travel outside of the county. Penn State Health plans to collaborate with pediatricians and primary care physicians in the region to ensure their young patients have access to this high-level specialty care.
Construction is expected to begin this spring with the buildout of 30,000 square feet of medical office space that will house a variety of pediatric medical and surgical specialties and outpatient services, such as imaging and lab testing. Penn State Health is partnering with High Construction Company on the new outpatient center, which is slated to open in spring 2022.
“Penn State Health is committed to bringing our primary and specialty care to where it’s convenient for our patients and their families,” said Steve Massini, CEO of Penn State Health. “Having a dedicated outpatient center for pediatrics in Lancaster will help reduce stress and travel time for those families that need this specialty care.”
Lancaster Pediatric Center will be one of more than 10 outpatient practice locations operated by Penn State Health in the county. They include Penn State Health Lime Spring Outpatient Center, 2221 Noll Drive, which offers a wide range of primary care and specialty services.
Penn State Health began construction on its newest acute care hospital in Lancaster County, Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, in 2020.
