Penn State Health RecFest celebrates inclusive recreation for all ages and abilities
Hundreds of individuals of all ages and abilities gathered at Spooky Nook Sports Complex on Saturday, Aug. 22, for Penn State Health RecFest 2026, a community event showcasing inclusive sports, adaptive recreation and wellness opportunities.
Hosted by Penn State Health Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the annual event highlighted a wide range of adaptive sports and recreational activities designed to foster participation, connection and healthy living. Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital served as the Champion Sponsor.
The event featured interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities that allowed attendees to explore adaptive recreation options. Participants had the opportunity to try activities including cycling, tennis, sled hockey, golf, wheelchair basketball, rugby, weight training and an obstacle course.
RecFest welcomed individuals with visible and invisible disabilities, as well as their families, friends and caregivers. Organizers said the event aimed to increase awareness of adaptive sports opportunities while helping community members discover new ways to stay active and engaged.
Organizers said RecFest reflected Penn State Health’s ongoing commitment to promoting accessibility, inclusion and wellness through sports and recreation, creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities to participate, compete and thrive.
