From Code to Clinic: Building AI-Powered Standardized Patients for Medical Education
Woodward Center Lecture with Dr. Myles Nickolich and Dr. James Grogan, 2025 Junior Faculty Teaching Award Recipients.
Learning objectives:
- Create an AI-based virtual standardized patient to provide a natural-language interface for trainees to exercise clinical reasoning skills.
- Apply programing skills and implement novel tools in an AI assessment model to enhance the learner experience and troubleshoot difficulties and common errors.
- Critically analyze performance of an AI assessment model and perform quality assurance exercises to ensure standardization and model fidelity.
