Chuang, Sanchez receive Humanism in Medicine awards from Gold Foundation

Penn State College of Medicine’s Cynthia Chuang, MSc, MD, is a 2020 recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Faculty Award.

The award is given by the Gold Foundation through the College of Medicine chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

More than 100 medical schools participate in the award by nominating one graduating medical student and one faculty member for the award each year.

The faculty award is given to a faculty physician who demonstrates outstanding compassion in the delivery of care; respect for patients, their families and health care colleagues; and clinical excellence.

Chuang is the Kenneth V. and Eleanor M. Hatt Faculty Fellow in Internal Medicine and a professor in the Department of Medicine, where she is chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine.

She holds a joint appointment in public health sciences and is a member of Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

The 2020 student honoree from the College of Medicine was Ana Sanchez.
