Discounted cell line authentication rates available to Penn State researchers

As part of the National Institutes of Health’s focus on Increasing Rigor and Reproducibility in Research, a description of cell line authentication methods to be used is now required in all NIH grant applications.

While any cell line authentication service or valid internal method can be used for this purpose, the Penn State College of Medicine Research Team, with funding from the College’s Office of the Vice Dean for Research, examined and tested academic and commercial services under the direction of Dr. Yuka Imamura. Imamura sent cell-line test samples from multiple College of Medicine labs for testing and evaluated the services provided.

This effort led ultimately to arranging discounted rates for Penn State University researchers from any campus for human cell line authentication with Genetica, a commercial company. Complete information about how to submit cell-line samples to Genetica is available to Penn State College of Medicine investigators on the College Infonet (internal access only).

Investigators at other Penn State campuses who wish to use this service can access forms and guidelines in this Box folder by logging in with their PSU Access ID.
