First phase of Penn State Middletown expansion opens

A two-story, 14,000-square- foot addition is complete at Penn State Health Medical Group ― Middletown and opened for family and community medicine and adult rheumatology patients on Feb. 18. As the first phase of a $7 million expansion/renovation, the newly opened space includes 15 exam rooms and a point-of-care lab. This office opened on the second floor of the two-story building.

In addition, the expansion project added a new ground floor with six exam rooms and two group rooms that will be home to Penn State Health Surgical Weight Loss beginning Feb.  25. The program offers comprehensive weight management services, including nutritional counseling, medical evaluation, psychiatric evaluation and weight loss surgery.

Penn State Health Medical Group ― Middletown offers family medicine and rheumatology services. The existing 10,000-square-foot practice will be renovated and include additional exam space, X-ray services and a walk-in lab.

Land development for the project started in April 2018, and construction is expected to be completed by this May. The opening date for the walk-in lab is still to be determined but will be sometime this summer.

This project is part of Penn State Health’s long-range goal of expanding convenient access to primary and specialty care across central Pennsylvania and the surrounding region.
