GME coordinator timeline for December through March

Graduate medical education coordinators should be aware of the following timelines for December through March.

December

Residencies

  • Residency candidate interviews

General reference

  • CCCs complete milestone evaluations to be submitted to ACGME
  • Conduct mid-year program director evaluations

January

Residencies

  • Residency candidate interviews
  • NRMP quota changes
  • Jan. 15: Main Match ranking opens
  • Jan. 31: Program quota change, program withdrawal and SOAP participation status deadline

February

Residencies

  • Feb. 26: Main Match rank order list certification deadline
  • ACGME Resident Survey released; program-specific dates in WebAds

General reference

  • Renewal contracts typically sent out by GME office for coordinators to distribute
  • Feb. 27 to 29: Annual ACGME Education Conference

March

Residencies

  • March 16: Main Match week starts
  • March 20: Main Match day
  • Send out post-Match survey
  • Set rotation schedules for next academic year

General reference

  • Onboarding information sent to incoming trainees by GME office
  • Prepare and update any program information for the upcoming year: goals and objectives, policies and procedures, program handbook, online presence

  • Graduation party planning

  • Board exam dates
  • PEC meetings
  • CCC meetings
  • In-training exams (ITE)

  • Board confirmation letters for seniors/seniors apply for board exams
