In the CTSI Spotlight: Cyndi Flanagan
Cyndi Flanagan, Nurse Manager, Clinical Research Center, University Park Campus
Cyndi Flanagan has been with Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) since 2011. She currently serves as nurse manager at the CTSI’s University Park Clinical Research Center (CRC). She performs clinical research procedures for investigators conducting human subjects research that requires medical interventions. Prior to this role, Cyndi was a research nurse for the CRC. She also worked in cardiovascular clinical research and neonatal intensive care.
Cyndi says the favorite part of her work day is working with graduate students, and her favorite things about working with CTSI are clinical research and preventative care research.

Who inspires you? “My husband — he is the hardest working, caring and intelligent person I have ever met.”
What’s one thing — either professional or personal — you learned in the last month? “That only about 30% of Americans graduate from college — we need to do better.”
What’s something about you that not many people know? “I lived in Finland as an exchange student.”
What’s the last book you read? “So many books, so little time — I often have two books going at a time. I just finished Les Miserables — all books are better than the movie/play.”
What’s on your bucket list? “To hike the north side of the Grand Canyon”
Are you currently binge-watching any shows? PBS All Creatures Great and Small
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? “Not a meal, but I love cookies, especially if they have chocolate chips.”
What’s one item you can’t live without? “My bike.”
