Which accounts will be impacted?

Any NCBI tool such as NCBI My Bibliography, PubMed or other NCBI database saved searches and SciENcv. The data in the accounts will not change; just the way users log in.

Who will be affected?

The change affects anyone who is currently signing in directly to NCBI accounts (not through a third party).

What do users need to know?

After June 1, all users will need to log in using institutional (Penn State) credentials or other third party options such as eRA Commons, Google or ORCiD.

How does someone link third party logins to their username?

Sign into the NCBI account with the username and password. Click on the username in the top right of the page. Click “change” in the “linked account” portlet. Find the third party account(s) using the search bar. From here, users can link to the third party’s sign in page.
