“We know that this year is different than any other year we’ve ever experienced,” said David Swift, chief human resources officer. “We’ve been “all hands on deck” to serve during a global pandemic. But we know that it’s critical for our people and our organization to be engaged and focused on the future. This is more important now than ever before. And we’re going to have valuable lessons learned that we want to capture and build upon for the future.”

Employees are asked to complete self-appraisals and other rater appraisals in myHR located in Pulse/Lawson beginning the week of June 1. By critiquing their own work and behavior, employees can gain insights to help them improve their job proficiency. Employee self-appraisals must be completed by June 30.

Managers are asked to complete employee performance appraisals beginning July 1. Providing feedback to employees is key for capturing lessons learned and setting goals for the coming year. Managers must complete employee performance appraisals by Aug. 31.

This year, the employee and manager appraisal process has been slightly streamlined with a few changes to ratings, goals and comments:

  • The overall rating distribution has been updated for this year to focus on job proficiency and organizational values.
    • Organizational values – 30% of the overall appraisal score
    • Job proficiency – 70% of the overall appraisal score
  • Goals for 2019-2020 do not have a direct impact on the overall appraisal score. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and guidance on evaluating goals for this year will be provided on mySolutions.
  • Only those goals that were approved by the manager for the 2019-2020 appraisal year will be uploaded into myHR. Goals suggested or submitted by employees that were not approved by the manager will not be included.
  • Many required comments will be optional. The overall comments at the end of the appraisal are still required.
