Hershey Medical Center named a top teaching hospital
Washington Monthly magazine recently partnered with Lown Institute, a nonpartisan health care think tank, to develop a “Best Hospitals for America” ranking focused on how well individual organizations save lives, save money and serve everyone.
The publication recently released its honorees for the 50 best major teaching hospitals based on their performance in three broad categories: patient outcomes such as mortality; civic leadership, including service to underserved and minority patients; and value of care (avoiding overtreatment).
The organization named Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center fifth overall in its list of 224 teaching hospitals nationwide. The organized scored above the 98th percentile overall for patient outcomes and in the 97th percentile for value.
