Penn State Hershey plans preparedness exercise

The campus of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine will conduct an emergency preparedness exercise in its main building on Tuesday, November 26. It will take place from approximately 10:30 a.m. to noon. The exercise is not expected to affect normal operations of the Medical Center, College of Medicine, or related Penn State Hershey facilities.

As part of the exercise, alert systems such as the PSUTXT text-messaging system may be tested to help ensure functionality in a true emergency. Any test messages will be sent only to those who have valid PSUTXT accounts and have elected to receive “Hershey Alerts.”

Those who do not subscribe to the PSUTXT system to receive Hershey alerts should consider doing so prior to November 26, as the exercise will be a good opportunity to ensure a subscription is activated. To subscribe to PSUTXT, visit http://psutxt.psu.edu/ online and complete the subscription process. Be sure to select “Hershey alerts” from the subscription options.
