Beat Childhood Cancer at Penn State College of Medicine launches WeTrials AI patient engagement platform

Collaboration aims to advance patient-centered clinical research, making it more accessible, understandable and actionable for families

Beat Childhood Cancer (BCC) at Penn State College of Medicine, an international pediatric cancer research consortium comprising more than 50 hospitals and research institutions across North America, South America and Europe, continues to explore innovative approaches that expand access to clinical trials and accelerate the development of new therapies for children with cancer. Today, Beat Childhood Cancer announced the implementation of the WeTrials AI-powered patient engagement platform to help families discover, understand and engage with pediatric cancer clinical research opportunities across the consortium’s study portfolio.

The platform provides families with a centralized destination to explore Beat Childhood Cancer studies through simplified study information, personalized educational and support experiences, and AI-powered engagement tools designed to help families navigate the clinical research journey with greater confidence and understanding.

Families can access the platform at https://research.beatcc.org/.

“At Beat Childhood Cancer, we are continually looking for ways to better serve children and families while advancing pediatric cancer research,” said Dr. Giselle Saulnier-Sholler, chair of Beat Childhood Cancer. “This collaboration helps make clinical trial opportunities more visible and understandable while helping us continuously improve how we support families throughout their clinical research journey. By making research information easier to access and understand, we can help families make more informed decisions about potential treatment and clinical trial opportunities.”

“Clinical research teams have made tremendous advances in developing innovative therapies for children with cancer, yet awareness and understanding remain significant barriers to participation,” said Romeo De Leon, CEO and co-founder of WeTrials. “Together with Beat Childhood Cancer, we’re helping bridge the gap between groundbreaking research and the families it was designed to serve. Our shared goal is to make clinical research opportunities easier to discover, understand and access.”

Beat Childhood Cancer has implemented the WeTrials AI-powered patient engagement platform to help families discover, understand and engage with pediatric cancer clinical research opportunities across the consortium’s study portfolio.

The platform will support Beat Childhood Cancer’s growing portfolio of clinical research studies across its international network of participating institutions, helping connect more families with research opportunities and educational resources throughout the clinical trial journey.

Future innovations developed by WeTrials, including multilingual capabilities and additional AI-powered engagement experiences, may be introduced to further support families and research teams across the Beat Childhood Cancer network.

The initiative underscores Beat Childhood Cancer’s commitment to advancing patient-centered innovation in clinical research and highlights the potential for AI-powered engagement technologies to improve awareness, understanding and participation in pediatric oncology studies.
