American Sign Language class full. Free Spanish course still open

The American Sign Language (ASL) classes scheduled for May and June are now closed for registration due to high demand. A number of seats for two conversational Spanish courses for specific groups of employees remain open. The courses emphasize basic language comprehension—not medical interpretation—to help improve the patient experience.

Based on the response to the effort to expand the number of employees who can use basic ASL to assist with patient communication, an additional series of free ASL classes may be scheduled for this fall.

Seats are still open for the free conversational Spanish course, with registration closing Friday, May 15. No prior Spanish experience is required.
