Douglas Leslie to give inaugural lecture as Public Health Sciences chair

Douglas Leslie, PhD, will present an inaugural lecture on May 23, titled “The Role of Public Health Sciences in Accomplishing the Tripartite Mission.” The lecture will be presented in-person in Junker Auditorium at Penn State College of Medicine and online via Zoom.

Leslie, professor and chair of public health sciences and professor of psychiatry and behavioral health, received his PhD in economics from Yale University in 1998. He served 10 years as associate research scientist through associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine until 2007, then two years as an associate professor at the Medical University of South Carolina before joining Penn State Penn State College of Medicine. He became chair of the Department of Public Health Sciences in October 2022.

Leslie’s research focuses on health economics and health services, and he has extensive experience using large administrative databases to inform clinical care and policy.
