Library hosts Penn State Health eLearning Meetup Group quarterly

The Penn State Health eLearning Meetup Group is a community of eLearning enthusiasts ranging from those interested in creating their first project to seasoned instructional designers.

The group gathers quarterly in Harrell Health Sciences Library, either in the Technology Sandbox or the Experimental Classroom, depending on the space and tech needs for that session.

Each meeting includes the presentation of a recent project created by one of the members, followed by the demonstration of a relevant skill, such as designing minimalist layouts or editing audio. The meeting concludes with a group discussion of recent trends in elearning and solutions participants have discovered for common elearning design challenges.

The group maintains an informal structure where ideas are welcomed from all members for presentation topics and other ways to improve the meetings. The members’ wide range of experience makes the group an excellent place to seek advice from peers and to find mentors in related educational positions.

The next meeting, which will revolve around the theme of storyboarding, is scheduled for July 22 in the Experimental Classroom, upstairs from Harrell Health Sciences Library’s main space.

Those interested in joining the group should email Sue Lynam at slynam@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.
