New Penn State Health OnDemand technical support number launches Monday

To provide enhanced customer service, Penn State Health is starting a new support phone number for patients using its telehealth service, Penn State Health OnDemand.

Starting Monday, May 11, at 10 a.m., patients can call Penn State Health OnDemand Client Support Services at 1-833-PSH-DOCS (1-833-774-3627) for help with any technical issues. This new phone number will be available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

Callers will speak directly with Penn State Health employees experienced in customer support, technical troubleshooting and scheduling. Support staff will provide answers to questions about Penn State Health OnDemand and step-by-step guidance on how to:

  • Download the Penn State Health OnDemand app
  • Choose the right web browser
  • Prepare for a telehealth visit
  • Run a “tech check” before a telehealth visit

“Our ultimate goal is to ensure successful virtual appointments for patients and providers,” says Christopher LaCoe, vice president of operations at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and executive sponsor of telehealth programs. “As our volume of virtual visits increases, we will add more customer service agents to meet the demand.”

OnDemand in Demand

The new patient support line comes as Penn State Health OnDemand experiences rapid growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Available 24/7, the app allows patients to receive care while staying home and avoiding possible exposure to the virus and other germs.

The app now boasts more than 38,000 enrolled patients, and it’s accommodated nearly 6,500 patient visits since launching in August 2018.

In March, Penn State Health OnDemand began offering free virtual screenings for COVID-19, allowing people to be evaluated by a provider who can make care recommendations. To date, Penn State Health OnDemand has accommodated more than 4,300 virtual COVID-19 screenings.

Patients whose symptoms warrant a COVID-19 test are asked to visit one of Penn State Health’s drive-thru clinics at Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center or Mount Nittany Health in State College. Patients must present their doctor’s order, photo identification and insurance card to receive a drive-thru screening.
