Three MD/PhD students honored with awards

Three students in the MD/PhD Medical Scientist Training Program at Penn State College of Medicine recently received national awards.

Andrea Schneider, who expects to graduate in 2022, received the 2017 American Skin Association Medical Student Grant Targeting Melanoma and Skin Cancer Research. Schneider is from Eden, NY, and received her BS in biochemistry from SUNY Buffalo in 2014. She works in the Amanda Nelson Lab.

Scott Tucker, who expects to graduate in 2021, was named a 2017 Center for Health Organization Transformation Scholar. Tucker is from Astoria, NY, and received his BS in biomedical engineering from Cornell University in 2010. He works in the Gregory Lewis Lab.

Oliver Mrowczynski, who also expects to graduate in 2021, received the “Best Abstract/Presentation Award” at the Society for Neuro-Oncology Meeting held in November 2016. Mrowczynski is from San Jose, CA, and received his BS in physiology and neuroscience from the University of California at San Diego in 2011. He works in the James Connor Lab.
