Watch joy of learning light up young faces

When parents and teachers unite to prepare children for kindergarten, a little magic happens. Learning becomes family fun. Young scholars develop an appetite for education that can last a lifetime. And every baby step along the way makes the leap to kindergarten much easier.

See how United Way is opening doors for kids in need throughout our community:

United Way of the Capital Region’s Ready for School, Ready to Succeed program has helped 115 children ages 3-5 enroll in kindergarten and 33 more enroll in preschool. Close to 700 individuals have participated in preparatory workshops hosted at three central Pennsylvania schools in the past year. United Way plans to add more schools and provide more access to families in the coming year.

2018 United Way Campaign at the Halfway Point
Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Health’s 2018 United Way campaign, “United with our Community,” runs through Friday Oct. 26. Generous employees have donated $97,124 to date, 26 percent of the $375,000 goal.

Gifts and pledges can be donated to a nonprofit organization of the donor’s choice or to the United Way general fund. In addition to school readiness, United Way supports health care access, workforce development and basic needs. Dr. Craig Hillemeier, dean, CEO and senior vice president for health affairs, is chair of the 2018 Live United™ campaign.

Campaign Incentives
Any employee who contributes at least $182 ($7 per pay or $3.50 per week) to the Penn State Health United Way campaign will be eligible to win some exciting incentive prizes.
