State official visits Hershey Medical Center to highlight partnership for enhancing maternal health services
Meg Snead, acting secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), visited Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for a media event March 1 to spotlight joint efforts to improve maternal health services in central Pennsylvania.

Snead recognized the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as one of 16 hospitals participating in an enhanced maternal health screening process using a framework established by Pennsylvania’s Perinatal Quality Collaborative. The collaborative is a partnership led by DHS and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation that focuses on improving the identification of and care for patients experiencing perinatal depression during or after pregnancy.

In addition to Snead, two physicians who lead Hershey Medical Center’s Moving on Maternal Depression initiative gave remarks: Dr. Amy Cruz, an obstetrician/gynecologist, and Dr. Ritika Baweja, a psychiatrist. Deborah Berini, president of Hershey Medical Center, emceed the event.
