Berini invites Penn State Health team to join Heart Walk Sept. 15

Deborah Berini, president of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Capital Region American Heart Association board member, encouraged employees and students to join the Penn State Health Heart Walk team in an email on Sept. 5:

“My dog Alvin and I are looking for teammates to join the Penn State Health team at the American Heart Association’s 2019 Capital Region Heart Walk on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. on City Island in Harrisburg. Friends, family members and leashed pets are all welcome to participate.

Will you join us?

I’ll be walking in memory of my dad, who died of heart disease in 2011. I’ll also be walking to celebrate the incredible work our cardiac care team at Hershey Medical Center does to provide central Pennsylvania with top-rate care. There’s a little friendly competition involved too. The Penn State Health team is competing against UPMC Pinnacle and Geisinger Holy Spirit for the dollar amount raised.

Supporting the health of our community is an important part of what we do and it’s an important reason for why we all come to work every day. You can sign up to walk or make a donation on the Penn State Health Heart Walk website.

If you’re on the Hershey campus, you can sign up for the Heart Walk at the Red Day table this Friday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Hershey Medical Center’s main lobby. You’ll be entered into a drawing for a Penn State gift basket, including a cooler, T-shirts and other Nittany Lion gear.

I look forward to sharing a fun afternoon with you for a great cause!”
