Hershey Medical Center names employees of the month
Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center named the following employees winners of Employee of the Month award:
- October 2022 ― Sheri Deimler, cardiothoracic surgery specialty service referral assistant, for October 2022
- November 2022 ― Sue Powell, Penn State Health Cocoa Outpatient Center
- senior licensed practical nurse
- December 2022 ― Lauren Zug, Anesthesia Clinic Nurse Practitioner
Deimler’s nomination noted her exceptional attention to patient needs and patient experience. She takes initiative when dealing with new or difficult situations and demonstrates a desire to learn, her nominator said. Colleagues note that she plays a critical role in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery by reviewing flow processes and identifying ways to adopt efficient practices.
Powell’s colleagues say she’s a professional role model, sharing her knowledge, inspiring others and supporting providers. Her team members appreciate her dedication to teamwork, especially her natural ability to check in on the well-being of her colleagues. As a member of the stocking team, Powell created highly organized systems to support the 43-exam room clinic at Cocoa Outpatient Center
Zug’s nomination said she advocates across disciplines to ensure reliable communication and a focus on patient safety. Along with her full-time nursing position, Zug provides health screenings and education at two local food pantries. In recognition of her commitment to the community, Zug was awarded the 2019 Arbor Greene Development Community Spirit Award. She is also committed to preparing the next generation of nurses as an active member of the Women’s Leadership Initiative and preceptor for nurse practitioner students.
