Library offers multimedia specialist services

In an effort to help faculty who have ideas that have been on the back burner due to lack of time, Harrell Health Sciences Library offers support from a library multimedia specialist.

A multimedia specialist can help faculty focus ideas, and then build a project from inception to publishing in SIMBA or Canvas. The library is currently accepting a variety of project types, from videos to full eLearning courses. To learn more about the full process of commissioning a multimedia specialist, see the library website.

In a recent project, multimedia specialist Eliza Donne has been working with Drs. Krish Sathian and Simon Lacey, of the Departments of Neurology and Neural and Behavioral Sciences, to produce stimuli for an experiment investigating how auditory perception can be affected by visual inputs.

Donne produced video clips that present a short musical phrase together with a visual bar that rises or falls with each note in a way that either matches, or mismatches, the musical contour. “These would have been tough for us to produce in-house,” said Dr. Lacey, “so we were very pleased to work with Eliza and quickly obtain stimuli that were exactly calibrated to our needs.”
