Mid Penn Bank and Urology sprout beards in record-setting cancer research fundraiser
Mid Penn Bank and the Division of Urology notched a cheek-fuzz record this November to fight cancer.
Celebrating No Shave November for the third straight year, men from both organizations put down their razors and let their face follicles soak up cash for prostate cancer research.
This year, they hit a new record for the annual effort. In addition to some impressive chin shrubs, the groups raised $51,195.
Since 2016, the No Shave November campaign has raised $77,195.
Mid Penn Bank made the biggest contribution. This year, at the beginning of the month, Rory Ritrievi, Mid Penn Bank’s president and CEO, agreed to raise $35,000 for the cause. By month’s end, they surprised Dr. Jay Raman, chief of the urology division, with a check for $40,000.
The funds support the division’s involvement in the Pennsylvania Urologic Research Collaboration, a quality-improvement initiative that connects urology practices in a physician-led, data-sharing and improvement collaborative aimed at advancing the quality of diagnosis and care for men with prostate cancer.
