Remlinger is director of provider services and credentialing for Penn State Health

Kathy Remlinger has accepted the newly created position of director of provider services and credentialing for Penn State Health.

In this role, Remlinger is responsible for establishing and maintaining a standardized and centralized credentialing process in accordance with regulatory standards for all health system entities. She also will focus on standardizing provider onboarding in areas not covered by Human Resources, oversee provider enrollment with payers and collaborate on all credentialing and provider-related issues.

Remlinger, who has served as manager of medical staff services for Hershey Medical Center since 1997, has a broad knowledge base that will prove helpful to medical staff coordinators and credentialing staff as Penn State Health grows, especially with the opening of Hampden Medical Center this year and Lancaster Medical Center in 2022. She advocated for this role prior to its creation and has been performing the job duties for several months while the position was formalized.

Remlinger first joined Hershey Medical Center in 1988 as staff assistant to the assistant hospital director and members of financial management. In 1990, she became staff assistant for the associate dean for clinical affairs and medical staff coordinator, a position she held for the last 24 years.

In addition to earning an associate’s degree in legal secretarial science from HACC, Remlinger holds the Certified Professional Medical Staff Services Management designation and completed the Penn State Leadership Academy for Excellence in Academic Medicine in 2015. She is an active member of the National Association of Medical Staff Services and has held multiple officer roles in the Pennsylvania Association of Medical Staff Services and South Central Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of Medical Staff Services.
