Performance Appraisals due Aug. 31
Penn State Health managers have until Aug. 31 to complete performance appraisals in Pulse/Lawson myHR. Managers can access step-by-step instructions and resources for completing performance reviews by going to mySolutions and searching “Performance and Goals.”
T-Mobile Service Available on Hershey Campus
T-Mobile cellular service is now available throughout the Hershey campus, including: Hershey Medical Center, College of Medicine, Cancer Institute, Children’s Hospital, 30 Hope Drive, 35 Hope Drive and West Campus. T-Mobile customers should notice improved service. AT&T and Verizon cellular service is already present throughout the Hershey campus. Information Services is actively working with Sprint to provide cellular service throughout the campus.
New Service Desk Phone, Email
Information Services is centralizing and improving its Service Desk functions to better serve Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine. Changes for contacting Information Services and Clinical Engineering include one unified contact phone number: 833-577-HELP (4357) and one unified email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The following employees have been approved for the primary Paid Time Off (PTO)/Vacation Donation Program: Janelle Engel, Radiation Oncology, and Sarah Medvec, Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit. Employees interested in donating their Primary PTO hours may do so by going to mySolutions, search “PTO Donation” (log-in may be required) and submit it electronically.
Hippert Named Family Physician of the Year
Penn State Health St. Joseph’s Dr. Robert Hippert was named 2019 Family Physician of the Year by the Pennsylvania Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. The society said Hippert is “esteemed by his fellow physicians for outstanding service to his profession and community.” Hippert has been on the active staff of St. Joseph Medical Center since 1987. He has served in a variety of leadership positions, including as president of the St. Joseph medical staff and member of the Penn State Health St. Joseph Board of Directors.
Clinical Trial Talk
Penn State Clinical and Translational Institute presents “Recruiting Underrepresented Populations in Clinical Trials” on Tuesday, Aug. 20 from noon to 1 p.m. in H4504 at the College of Medicine. The event will also be streamed to 116 Henderson at University Park campus and will stream online. Register here. The online stream link will be provided upon registration. The event is part of the Bench to Bedside and Beyond seminar series.
A Penn State Health Pride event will be Wednesday, Aug. 21, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Biomedical Research Building Courtyard at Hershey Medical Center to increase awareness of the employment and patient-care needs of LGBT communities. Deborah Berini, Medical Center president, will provide opening remarks that will feature Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Rachel Levine. Drag entertainer Lizzie Beaumont will perform. Host: The College of Medicine’s Pride Group and Penn State Health LGBTQ+ and Allies employee affinity group. Email for information.
Life Lion Presentation
Brandon Wattai of Life Lion Community Paramedicine will give a presentation on “Bringing Care to the Patient: Life Lion Community Paramedicine” Thursday, Aug. 22, noon-1 p.m., at Hershey Medical Center, C3621. It’s part of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Lunch and Learn Series. Lunch will be provided and Continuing Medical Education credit offered.
