Grigson Named Neural and Behavioral Sciences Chair
Sue Grigson, professor of neural and behavioral sciences, has been appointed chair of the Department of Neural and Behavioral Sciences, effective Sept. 1. She has served as the interim chair since October. Read about her appointment.
St. Joseph Medical Center Set to Expand Medical Office Building
Penn State Health St. Joseph President John Morahan joined doctors and service line leaders on Aug. 28 in reviewing design materials that will be used in the Medical Office Building expansion project. The multi-million dollar, four-phase project on St. Joseph’s Bern Township campus will begin in October and is projected to be completed by summer of 2020. The building will be renovated to expand into unused space and reconfigure current space to accommodate more providers and exam rooms.

Learn how to protect your family and your home at Penn State Health’s first Emergency Preparedness Fair. The event is today, Friday, Sept. 6, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at a tent outside the Rotunda Café in the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Details here.
Register for Heart Walk
Sign up for the American Heart Association’s 2019 Capital Region Heart Walk at the Red Day table today, Friday, Sept. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Hershey Medical Center’s main lobby. You’ll be entered into a drawing for a Penn State gift basket. The walk takes place on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. on City Island in Harrisburg. Participants can also sign up to walk or make a donation on the Penn State Health Heart Walk website.
Palmyra Clinic Celebrates Healthy Community Day
Penn State Health Medical Group ― Palmyra is hosting a Healthy Community Day event Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Note: Monday’s Daily Brief listed the incorrect end time.) This free event will feature games, face painting, health screenings and demonstrations, a bake sale and a meet-and-greet with the Penn State Health therapy dogs. Attendees are invited to donate food for The Caring Cupboard and pet supplies for Grr’s and Purrs Animal Rescue.
Cassel Vineyards Event Benefits United Way
Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine will kick off the annual United Way campaign with an event at Cassel Vineyards in Hershey on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. Musical group Crossing Abbey Road will perform, and food trucks will be available. Details here.
